{ "company.info" :
KVKBase compared to Company.info
Short answer
Company.info and comparable vendors sell credit information: financial statements, group structures, credit scores and monitoring, priced per seat or per contract and quoted rather than listed. KVKBase sells identity: does this company exist, what is it formally called, where is it registered, and does its VAT number check out against VIES. We hold no financial data at all. If you need a credit score or a group structure, we are the wrong product.

Not competitors, two different layers
Company.info and comparable vendors sell credit and risk information: filed financial statements, group structures, credit scores, payment behaviour and portfolio monitoring. Pricing is not public and runs per seat or per contract, on a quote.
We sell identity. Does this KVK number exist, what is the company formally called, what legal form, what address, is the registration still open, and is the derived VAT number valid according to VIES. That is the whole list.

When we are the wrong product
As plainly as it can be put: if you need a credit score, a financial statement or a group structure, do not buy KVKBase. We hold no financial data at all. We do not know what a company turns over, whether it pays its invoices on time, or who its shareholders are. If your product sets a credit limit, grants payment terms or assigns a risk class, the enrichment vendor is the right choice and we are at most a complement to it.
Monitoring is the same story. We have no alerting product. If you want to be told when a customer runs into trouble, that is what they build and we do not.
What insolvency and isActive are and are not good for
We return isActive and insolvency, and both get mistaken for a risk signal. They are not one.
isActive says whether the registration is still open. A company that stops paying today is still perfectly active tomorrow. insolvency is a recorded fact, not a prediction: by the time something is in there, you are too late to act on it.
Both fields are fine for catching a deregistration or a bankruptcy before you accept an order. They are unfit as a substitute for credit assessment. Treat them as a hard block, not as a score.
Keep our 24 hour cache on active companies in mind here too. For a daily portfolio sweep it is fine. For a block at the moment of shipping you want the source, or a vendor with real time alerting.
The setup that usually costs least
Enrichment vendors price per seat or per report. That makes “run everyone through the expensive layer” an expensive habit, especially when most of your applications never get credit.
A practical split:
- In the form and during onboarding: us. Every application, every KVK field, every VAT check on an invoice. High volume, low value per lookup, flat price.
- At the credit or limit decision: the enrichment vendor. Low volume, high value per assessment, priced per report or per seat.
That way you pay the expensive layer only for companies where the decision is worth money, and keep the cheap layer on everything.
Who should pick the enrichment vendor
Pick Company.info or a comparable vendor if you extend credit, set payment terms, watch a receivables portfolio, or if compliance asks you for group structures and UBO information. Pick them too if your users mostly work in an interface and do not want to build an API integration, because that is what their product is designed around.
If you end up with us, it is because you want a KVK field in a form that works, or a VAT number that passes VIES, and you do not want a contract conversation to get it. That is a smaller question, and we are the smaller product for it.
